When I joined Miss Faye's 2013 Essential Tops Sew-Along my goal was to get a single top done. Thank God I did it! This (last) project was actually an unfinished project
that I was inspired to complete when I joined this challenge hosted by Miss Vita and Natalea.
Cute
and simple is what I was going for here. I've had this Cynthia
Rowley pattern for a while and thought it was high time I got it out and
stitched it up. I combined Top A with the sleeves of Dress C.
This top has no closures - how's that for simplicity?! As a result, the front neckline is a little
wide which causes some front gaping but that's okay since if it were any
smaller, I might not be able to get it on and off with ease.
Although this top has similar "properties" of a peplum design - two
quarter circles, cut on the fold, stitched together at the sides and
attached to the bodice - the word "peplum" never appears in the pattern
description or instructions. Instead the top is said to have an attached "skirt".
The
fabric is a dutch wax print cotton with a fabulous bird featured
throughout. The colors are rich and vibrant which I think is somewhat
lost in these photos but that's the kind of weather we had yesterday Saturday. It even tried to rain a little. What's a girl to do?
That's all for this time! Thanks for stopping by and until next time -
PEACE AND BLESSINGS!

ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous top, fun, vibrant, and so spring. I find wrap tops always gape a bit - sometimes I sew a small press stud fastener at the V neck intersection, or wear a little camisole underneath.
