11.11.11. - Military Inspired Maxi Skirt - Simplicity 2401

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!!!!!!!!!
It used to be that not a day would go by that I didn't think about some aspect of my military service, then it was weeks, now it's months. Eventually years I would imagine. An experience I'll always remember either way.

This is the skirt portion of the Simplicity 2401 dress. The jumpsuit, which can be seen here, was made a while ago.  My original plan was to make a dress out of this fabric when I purchased it from JoAnn's this past summer but I opted for a maxi skirt instead.  I simply drafted a waistband and inserted an invisible zipper.
This is a matte jersey knit.  Real stretchy.  Very comfortable to wear but not my most favorite fabric to work with.  Very shifty.....that's SHIFTY - lol.
T'was VERY cold today!  I can tell you that I will probably get more wear out of this skirt in the warmer months paired with sandals and a tank top.  In addition the sweater vest and my husband's shirt and jacket, I have on a sweater turtleneck, leggings and boots!!!!  Burrrrrrrr!!!!!

Life is good and God is GREAT!!!!! Be Blessed!

  2. Great outfit! I need that fabric! It's been almost 10 years since I got out the Army, but it's still fresh in my mind. I didn't think so at the time (and shortly after), but it has had a very positive impact on my life, I wouldn't be same. I never had to serve in a war, but my thoughts are constantly with those who are and have.

  5. Such sleek and stylish ensembles! A big thank you for serving our country. I have always had a lot of respect and admiration for our ladies and gentlemen who served in our military -my father was in the U.S. Navy for many years. I have noticed for severals years in my school district how overlooked this day of remembrance is.
