What I Wore to Church Today - Simplicity 2894

Wow!  Time sure does fly! My last post was almost a month ago......okay...3 weeks - but still!  In addition, it's been a while since a post of this title.  Recently, I've not worn anything to church that I've made....until today.
Front view with belt.  Sorry for the "hazziness" of this photo.  It was hot.  I probably can adjust some setting but don't know what that is yet.

I've had this pattern for quite some time and thought it would look lovely in this ethnic (African print) one way stretchy cotton fabric that I found in.......you know it!  - VIRGINIA'S STASH!!  Told you........she's got GOOD taste!   This fabric is really vibrant and rich with color.
Front view without belt.  Althought it looks a bit "sack-ie", I still like it.  Perhaps better styled with flatter shoes or wedges when worn this way.
This was a very easy pattern to make.  It runs a bit on the large side so beware.  The front piece is cut on the fold and is much wider than the back.  I think, in part, because of the pleat that lies in the front.  Still - it's a lot of extra room in this one!  It makes for a very comfortable dress with or without the belt!

While there is not a WHOLE LOT to say about this pattern, I will be doing a thorough review on PatternReview.com.  Check it out over there!

There is an option to put elastic in the sleeves but I opted not to do it on this dress.  I will be making a top from this pattern very soon and will use the elastic in the sleeves of that garment - I think.  Now that I've said it  - it might change!  Lol!

Right before the sermon sometimes my kids and I will try to predict from what Book of the Bible the speaker will be coming.  Today, Virginia's Sew Blessed Middle Grandson who will be attending law school in the fall, predicted either the Book of Matthew or Luke.  I said Psalms.  Psalms it was!

MESSAGE FROM OUR BISHOP:  Psalms 37:1-8 - "Fret not thyself because of evildoers, Neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.  For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.  Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.  Delight thyself also in the Lord; And He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  Commit thy way unto the Lord; Trust also in Him; and he shall bring it to pass.  And He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light.  And thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;  Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, Because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.  Cease from anger, and forsake wrath : Fret not thyself in any wise to do evil"
Taking time out to smell the Irises!
Taken from this text, he expounded upon seven (7) actions that we as believers have to take when it comes to believing and trusting in God and taking Him at His Word.  1-7:  fret not, trust, delight, commit, rest, wait, and cease!  GOD IS GREAT AND GREATLY TO BE PRAISED!
Back view with belt......oh wait is that another side view?  Okay, well another side view with belt (I like this pic).
Until next time.......BE BLESSED!
